A Day Swimming with Giants

It’s an early start, but an adventure worth getting out of bed for. After a full breakfast, we head out towards Vava’u’s outer islands in search of magnificent humpback whales.

We’ll spend approximately five hours on the water, watching for whales and, when conditions and their behaviour allow, entering the ocean for an unforgettable encounter. Seeing these extraordinary animals beneath the surface is a moment that can stay with you for a lifetime.

Lunch is provided, so bring your favourite snacks to keep you going between encounters.

Then it’s back to the resort to unwind, relax and share the day’s stories—an extraordinary morning followed by a well-earned dose of island time.

Explore Swallows Cave, then follow a spectacular coastline past lava-tube features and colourful fish, with plenty to discover along the way.

Choose from 500 m, 1 km, 2 km or 4 km swim options, giving you the freedom to enjoy the adventure at a distance that suits you.

Finish on a beautiful white-sand beach, where lunch and time to relax await. Enjoy the island surroundings, swap stories and soak up the reward of a morning spent exploring Tonga’s waters.

Explore beautiful caves and lava-tube features along Tonga’s spectacular coastline, where light dances through clear water and colourful fish give you plenty of reasons to pause and look around. A Second Day Swimming with Giants

One day leaves you wanting more—so we’re heading out again. After a full breakfast, we return to the waters around Vava’u’s outer islands for our second day with the humpback whales.

Every encounter is different. We’ll follow the crew’s guidance as we search for whales, with opportunities to enter the water when conditions and whale behaviour allow. It’s another chance to experience their extraordinary size, graceful movements and, if we’re lucky, the sound of whale song beneath the surface.

We’ll spend approximately five hours on the water, with lunch provided. Bring your favourite snacks and your sense of adventure.

Then it’s back to the resort to relax and share another day’s stories. Two days on the ocean, each with the possibility of something unforgettable.

Head back out to Vava’u’s outer islands for another day with the magnificent humpback whales, this time alongside friends who shared the excitement of your first encounters. Every day is different, and the anticipation builds as we watch for a distant blow or a tail rising above the surface. When conditions and whale behaviour allow, slip into the ocean for another chance to witness these extraordinary animals beneath the water. With lunch provided and time to enjoy the island scenery between encounters, it’s a day to savour together before returning to the resort, happily tired and full of stories.

Discover a colourful side of Vava’u as we swim alongside dramatic sea cliffs and explore a coral garden stretching for almost a kilometre. With reef formations beneath you and tropical fish moving through the coral, there’s plenty to enjoy along the way.

Choose from 500 m, 1 km, 2 km or 4 km swim options, with support boats on hand. Whether you’re after a shorter scenic swim or a longer coastal adventure, there’s a distance to suit you.

Take your time, enjoy the underwater scenery and remember to look around—this swim is as much about what you see as how far you go.

If you’re keen to explore, take a trip into town or stretch your legs with a walk up Mount Talau.

However you spend it, this is your time to soak up a little more Tonga—one last swim, a quiet moment by the ocean and memories you’ll be taking home for a lifetime.
